Tennis Court Construction & Renovation

Tennis court construction is a complex process that involves careful planning, preparation, and construction techniques to ensure the court meets the required standards for play.

Tennis court construction and/or renovation can become a significant project, and it’s important to consult with experts or hire a professional construction company with experience in building tennis courts — that’s where ProSport Construction comes in. We provide guidance on court dimensions, materials, and other factors to ensure your court meets industry standards and provides a safe and enjoyable playing experience.

What We Do

All-Weather Asphalt

Asphalt is a readily available, cost effective solution for all-weather courts. Construction consists of a 2” base course followed by 1.5” of wearing course asphalt. Upon completion, the asphalt must dry-out (sometimes referred to as curing) for approximately 14-21 days before the coating process takes place.

In addition to acrylic coatings, asphalt provides a suitable material for a variety of surface applications including sand-filled turf and cushioned rolled goods.

Advantages of asphalt include:

  • Less expensive
  • Readily available
  • Year-round playability
  • Familiar surface for players
  • Low maintenance
Post-Tension Concrete

ProSport has been designing and installing P.T. slabs for over 25 years and remains the only Tennis Court Contractor in the Tri-State area that has the knowledge and experience to provide in-house specifications and Turn-Key construction for any size tennis facility or private residence.  Post-tensioned concrete slabs were introduced in the United States in the early 1950’s and are the preferred method of construction throughout the United States. Post-tensioned slabs are extremely durable and long-lasting (50+ years), resist cracking, heaving & settling, and provide superior planarity in the finished surface resulting in less puddling and waviness.

Post-tensioned courts are built utilizing ½” cables placed in both directions every 3-4’ within the concrete slab. After the concrete has been placed the cables are tensioned to 27,000 lbs. The tensioning process effectively compresses the slab preventing it from cracking. After full tensioning is achieved the concrete slab can be surfaced with a variety of products.

Advantages of the post-tension slab:

  • Longer life expectancy
  • Resists cracking & heaving
  • Superior planarity
  • Better drainage
  • Extremely durable
  • Lower maintenance costs

HYDROCOURT

A self-regulating system that is fully adjustable to player preference

Over 2,000 years ago, Archimedes discovered the principle that water will seek its own level. Today, HydroCourt is designed to water your Har-Tru tennis court from below the surface by incorporating the latest technology with that very principle.

HydroCourts are constructed with six individually controlled cells. Each cell is monitored by a separate water-filled control box. Water enters the control box and flows through pipes to cells lined with a chemical-resistant 20 mm thick hyperlastic liner.

As the water level in the control box rises, the water level under the court also rises. You control the amount of moisture in the court surface by adjusting the water level in the control box up or down. It’s that simple.
